  • Steering rod for my 1988 Yamaha 90 ETLG

Presently have a pipe in there now to hold the motor to the bracket

I want to buy the proper rod / bolts / washers required.

On the online microfiche it "LOOKS" like the rods that are on there don't allow for the steering bar to be inserted into them.... Are the insides of those rods all pretty well the same size, so I can use my existing steering cable? It is suppose to slide right through the middle?

or do I have to save the one from my 50 johnson so everything fits in, and I actually have steering..

are these steering/engine mount rods pretty standard or it is a yamaha one that is req'd ?

    thanks
    Mike

Is it likely that the steering cable that came with my boat that threaded in and slid well in my johnson will work in the yamaha 90hp? are they all pretty much the same threads/sizes..or am I just dreaming?

I doubt the one off of Johnson will work. The part number is 688-43131-03-00 BOLT, CLAMP BRACKET and it is same as the one on your motor allowing the steering will go into this part.
