2001 225ox66 max rpm

I just replaced my multifunct. tach. Ican only get 4900rpms. Does the tach read more? If so am I propped wrong?

Make sure new tach is set for 12 pole alternator. Operating range for that motor is 4500-5500 rpm's.

I set the switches on my tach to #1 on (2 lead trim sensor) but trim still reads incorrect. Switch #2 to off (12 pole) and switch #3 to off(2 stroke)

2001 is the first year the 2 wire trim sender was used, if it was maufactured before the change it may have a 3 wire trim sender.

You are running within the rpm range--now is the boat running with a average load in it with this rpm of 4900? What prop do you have now?
