Oil Transfer Problem Pro-v 150

Having Problems With Main Tank On Side Of Motor Not
Filling Up By It Self. Have To Use Emergency Toggle
Switch And Help Will Be Greatly Appreicated

will transfer if the yellow oil light in tach is on, if the oil
tank in boat is full and still see yellow light then
oil level sensor on boat oil tank may be bad.

The engine does have to be running and trimmed down to transfer oil.

the oil level sensor in boat oil tank or engine oil tank is bad or
the CDI unit is bad. Also check all ground wire connections to make
clean and tight.


If the transfer pump runs and pumps oil with the emergency switch,
then the pump is probably OK. There is a small oil filter in the
line coming from the sub tank. My sub tank is in the bilge, and the
filter is behind the tank so you have to remove it to access it
. You could have a clog there. There is a level sensor in the main
tank on the engine that has 3 switches in it: high level, low level
and alarm level. What's supposed to happen is when the low level
switch closes, the con*****er should turn the transfer pump on.
Depending on the con*****er you have, the newer ones like I have
(2004) run the transfer pump for 90 seconds or until the high level
switch closes, whatever comes first. You can check the sensor with
an ohm meter. If the low level switch isn't closing, you don't get
oil transfer when you need it. Your alarm is coming on when you reach
that level so it doesn't sound like the float is sticking. There is
also a an oil level sensor in the sub tank. If that one closes, you
should get a warning on the helm gage and oil transfer is disabled
until you top up level in that tank enough to get rid of the warning.

oil transfer problem


I have a 2001 225 SW series engine.
I am having a similar problem too.
My engine oil tank is not receiving oil from my boat oil tank, I noticed when the engine alarm on the throttle came on.
I have an digital rpm, & oil level indicator, the alarm comes on and the oil sign on the display flashes.

what I did i put oil back on the engine tank and the alarm quits.

What do you think I have to check?

I touch the pump and it feels warm like if it was working.

if the pump is working but main tank isnt receiving, you may have a clogged filter, behind pump on sub tank.

oil problem or gauge

previous answer to questions have been enlightening i have one...bought a used boat has 115 yamaha not sure waht year? it runs good but oil light in dash (has yamaha digital) shows m/t on oil (at least i think the circle with the line on bottom means m/t or low) oil pump is working i know because i left key on an oil cap off on motor (mess in driveway to clean up) sender in tank is sliding if i slide to bottom an alarm sounds but gauge doesn`t show full...Also this motor runs good but every once in awhile an alarm goes off makes it run rough when i back throttle down it goes back to smooth operation....is this a sensor or gauge problem an is there a snsor in aux oil tank that this could be reading ????? also wher is sender for the alladins almp oil gauge could this be bad?????

If the engine oil tank is overfilling then replace oil level sensor on engine oil tank. The alarm will activate if oil level in engine oil tank gets down to lower line on tank or if the engine overheats. I would start with replacing oil level sensor.

reason oil tank overfilled is i left key on with sensor out of tank...Still think i should repalce oil sensor???? gauge reads low m/t circle with a line at bottom ...Motor is not hot to touch when alarm sounds an runs rough...

The oil level sensor on engine tank controls oil level in engine oil tank, if it's overfilling replace sensor. Whether key was left on or not tank shouldn't overfill.

ok then this sensor has a float on it right,an does it operate the gauge also??

Sorry to add to the thread but I wanted to confirm something. I've had a yellow warning followed by a overheat alarm. If the yellow light on tach is on does the oil pump stop sending oil to the engine? Is this true on a 91 70hp?

No the 70hp only has one oil tank and the oil is gravity feed to oil pump. The yellow light indicates need to add oil to tank. If tank is full then you have a faulty sensor or wiring going to gauge. If the overheat light and warning buzzer is activated then replace water pump, if no buzzer check wiring.

check the gauge on dash to see if the trim/tilt indicator reads the motor is in the up position when it is down position.if it does the trim/tilt sender on the motor is stuck or not sending proper.
