  • Lower unit paint

    Evening everyone,

I am looking to purchase some lower unit spray paint for a 2004 Yamaha VMax 200HP motor.

Can anyone recommend a website or store where I can purchase it. Is there a paint code?

I just purchased a SkegGuard and before I install I want to prime and repaint the skeg.

Thanks for any help you can give.

        No Skegards....

I would highly recommend not using a Skegard. They're made from stainless and do not flex, give, bend one millimeter when you hit something with the lower unit. It will transmit 100% of the impact shock straight to your gearcase bullet, most likely cracking the case. I speak from experience after replacing two lower units that had Skegards on them. Replacing the aluminum skeg on the lower unit is less than $100. Replacing a shattered gearcase is about $2500 a pop. They should pull those things off the market.
