  • 10 Micron Filter Location-&-Start Problem-50TLR

I’m having a starting problem with 2006, 50HP TLR, 2 stroke, on a pontoon boat. Seems like it is running out of fuel. After 2-3 attempts all is OK.And, WOT is OK. The prime start, seems to be working as well.

A Dealer Installed Yamaha 10 Micron filter is installed at approximately the same height as the top of the fuel tank.

Fuel has to travel Up- from the bottom of the tank- (14 in), then Down(14in) - to the Factory fuel outlet grommet-) then Up Again (14 in) to the filter, then to the Bulb and finally to the engine.

Is this up,down, up situation causing any problem ???

Seems like the fuel line should go straight from the tank top to the filter.

It shouldn't but you can install a antisiphon valve at gas tank which would act as check valve.

or try an auxillary tank if you think the distance and heights are suspect.
