98 YAMAHA 250 SALTWATER SERIES STALLING OUT

I have a 98 yamaha 250 saltwater series fuel injected. While heading back in approx 10 miles into a 30 mile trip to the marina, the engine just lost power at approx 4600 rpm. It restarted right away, stall out or just drop to idle every few minutes. There is no drop in rpm or bogging it just tops while at cruising speed. Has anyone experienced this problem have any ideas where to check for a problem?

Have to start with the normal checks. Compression test. Fuel system checks, water in fuel, check filters fuel pressure tests. Ignition and sensor tests.
