I have a brand new Yamaha 225hp HPDI (2006),,,,, My engine temperature gauge goes no higher then 100 degrees after the engine is warm. It does move that little bit so I figured I had a bad gauge (replaced it). Still the same, My next step is to check the wiring at the engine temp. sensor. Has anyone else had a problem with a "bad" new sensor? I am gonna check to make sure it has power first. Again, this engine is new, and not even broken in yet. Any help would be great, thanks.

I just removed the engine temp. sensor and tested it in a pot of water, the ohm resistance was correct from 68 to 212 degrees. could I have a thermostat that is not opening? If I had a thermostat stuck close could it cause water to not go by the sensor giving me a bad gauge reading?
