  • Spark comes and goes

I have a 92 115 2 stroke. It will start right up and run without a problem. Sometimes after letting it sit a while not running (15 minutes) it will restart run for a second then stop, and not restart again as it has no spark. Some days it runs and starts without a problem others it will not stop spark.

Im thinking the CDI unit needs to be replaced but what part of the mechanism.......magneto, pulser, etc.?

Has anyone come accros this before? Its odd how it will sometimes work perfect and others not so much, I assumed if it was CDI it would not work all the time, not part time, and I dont think it would be a loose wire because the only thing I touch is the key and it works and does not.

I almost wonder if it is not some sort of kill device the shuts it down (kill switch is fine)

    Any info would be appreciated.
    Thanks

neutral stop, kill or even keyswitch could be going out. ensure all grounds are solid also.

Checked them all and they were working....while the motor was not.

Ground wire is corroded more than likely.
Run a ground directly from cdi box to your
key switch, bypassing the wiring harness.
Cut back insulation and look at the copper
        by the cdi ground screws.
