  • Multiple issues with S200TXRU

first off, we recently put two of these '96 engines on in place of our '91 130's. we used the harnesses from the keys to the powerhead from the 130's. from the powerhead to the oil tank is using the '96 harness. our problem is that the oil tanks are not pumping oil as they should. the oil level sensor is working fine, but the pumps never kick on. after a day of running the engines, we have to manually dump oil into the main tanks. this has to be an issue with the harness, any ideas?

also, there is this really bad overheating problem when we are running. it starts off just fine, and we can get up on plane, but after about 5-7min of running at around 3000 RPM, both engines' overheat buzzers go off. this also happens (albeit, much sooner) when we go WOT. obviously, there is not enough cold water getting into the powerhead. we just lowered the engines to the top bolt to see if they would do better in more solid water. same problems. also there is still some cavitation while we're on plane. this is throwing air into the water pick-ups. we tried blocking off the top half of the inside pickups, but the engines still overheat. we haven't checked the thermostats/impellers yet. any other ideas.

btw, we took these engines off of a boat where they were running fine, oil and all.

oh yea, one last thing, we also got some newer gauges off of a boat with yr2000 fourstrokes, and if we connect all of the wires, the tachs display 88 all the time and then just shut off. if we don't connect certain wires, we can get them to function normally.

we're running a 26' scarab sprint if that gives anyone ideas.
any and all help is greatly appreciated.

If you are using the 1991 oil tanks in boat then the wire connection would be different, need to get 96 or newer oil tanks. Sounds like the water pumps need to be replaced for the overheat problem.

the cavitation is probably the overheat issue tho you should change pumps, stats and prv parts.

strange that both pumps wont pump... sure the harnesses arent swapped? you should check the continuity of the harnesses also.

could it be the *commonality* of the dual keyswitch that is making both not work correctly? maybe someone with more electric exp will chime in.

i know for a fact that the harnesses from engines to remote oil tanks are the correct ones. they came out of a working install.

Make sure the oil tank harness is connected to blue colored plug on engine not the white one.

wow, didn't think it could be that simple. do you think that that could possibly affect the tach and/or the overheat problem?? thanks again

Possible,if it's giving green/red or grey wire a path to ground it will activate alarm.
