  • RPM for 115txry

I'm seeing about 5500 to 6000RPM when only running standard throttle. I'm afraid to run full throttle because my RPM will hit 7000RPM.

Why am I seeing such high RPMs? My idle looks good, maybe a tad high. I had my carbs adjusted about three months ago, do I need to do this again?

    Thanks for the advice.

    Hi aginsa,

I assume your in forward gear when running at 6000... If so you need to go to higher pitch prop. For every inch you may loose about 150 RPM. To drop a 1000 RPMs you will need to increase a three sizes. For example 15 inch pitch to 21. Pay attention the diameter as well (lager diameter means bigger blades)

    good luck

Here is a pic of my gauge:

I bought the boat used and it has aways run high RPMs, but not as high as recently. I know the previous owner and will ask if the prop was every changed from the original.

Would a guage every go bad with this kind of result?

        Thanks
