  • engine won't shutdown

    1991 130txrp:

got the motor running on the first try last weekend, but she won't turn off. i had to pull the choke to shut it down. obviously not the best way to do things.

when i turn the ignition key to the off position, the displays turn off but the motor doesnt stop. also doesnt stop if i pull the lanyard thing out either.

i've heard white wire, is that correct? also, where on the motor end does the white wire connect? i have the wiring diagrams, but i'm just checking for anyones experience with this problem and for any ideas on where to check first.

Probably a bad main harness(10 pin harness). Sometimes you start engine turn ignition key off and move main harness around where it goes into engine, if it shuts off replace main harness(6X3-8258A-00-00 16ft).

Have same problem on my 85hp (but only when engine is hot)
Harness is fine - suspect it is the CDI. See my post of today for more details....
