spark plug

I was working on my VMAX 200 when I noticed oil had been seeping from my sparkplug area. i removed one of the sparkplugs and the threads where messed up a little. then I started to pull all of them and most were very hard to turn and the ones i took out appeared to have thread damage. Does anyone know if the Plugs screw into the outer head cover or the head itself. it is very hard to tell. And is there anything else I can do to fix it other than replace the cover or the head?

WHO put those plugs in ? possibly overtightened and damaged the heads/threads.
they are mounted in the heads, water jacket goes around the plug opening. Im sure some have has success with helicoils but if you can get a pair of heads cheap...you may want to go that route.
