trim/tilt

When I hit my trim/tilt switch down it clicks but does not work. When I hit it up it works fine. If I use the trim/tilt switch on the remote it does the same sequence. Is this just a switch gone bad or could it be the trim motor? Yamaha 250 Thanks

Test the relay with a digital multimeter, see if it's passing voltage through it when you hit the switch. Could just be a bad relay.

Thanks for the responses. Is the relay between the switch and motor? I tried looking on the parts diagram but cant seem to find it. Thanks

Its the thing you hear clicking.
It's under the hood, on the port side of the powerhead.

What is the switch part numbeR?

I have a Yamaha 200 and the remote lever switch is having a hard time going down on the switch... the switch on the motor works 100%... its just the remote lever one...

anyone have instructions on how to change this out? diagrams would be great
