  • 96 vx 250 tilt seal

I am trying to re-seal the tilt ram and for the life of me cannot figure out how to take the ram apart to slide the seal cup off. The top of the shaft has the eye that attaches to the engine bracket. This appears to be welded in place. The lower part of the shaft is either pressed in or screwed in. Not sure. Anyone ever try to reseal this?

Does the ram housing have a seal retainer with 4 holes in it if it does you will need a spanner wrench to get it off or use a punch and hammer (the crude way but it works in a pinch) then the cap un screws

Yes that was the easy part. How do you remove the retainer from the shaft ? The trim rams (small ones) slide right off. The tilt ram (large one) has the eye welded on the top part. I removed the entire ram and the other end has the piston either pressed or screwed on.

You don't remove it. There's two O-rings at the lower end, thats all that's replaceable.
