  • Trim tabs

I have twin 225 hp yamahas. My question is simple . Do you paint the trim tabs when you paint the bottom of the boat? IF not, why? I have just noticed rust spots on both trim tabs.

if you keep it in salt, anything under the water will have algae and barnacles growing on it...at least in THIS area of the world. i would assume youd paint the tabs as well as the lower unit tips and bottom side of the trim units. someone may have used non stainless hardware on your tabs...also stainless isnt pure, DOES have some other metals in it that can rust.

      hi
i have painted trim tabs on one of my boats, the only way for the paint to last on stainless trim tabs is to use primer before painting with antifouling.
without priming, the paint was gone after only a few hours of ride
i use primocon under water primer from interlux, works great
