  • stator, light coil, charging coil. 91 70hp

I HAVE INHIERETED A 1991 70HP YAMAHA, IF MEMORY SERVES ME MODEL IS 70TLRP.

    THE ISSUE IS AS FOLLOWS

ONE OF THE EITHER THE(CHARGING COIL, OR LIGHTING COIL), BROKE OFF FROM THE MOUNTING POINTS ON THE HEAD DOESN'T SEEM TO HAVE PHYSICALLY DAMAGED THE LARGE COIL, OTHER THAN SOME BARE WIRES. YET THE LARGER COIL DID INFLICT DAMAGE UPON ONE OF THE STATOR'S COILS.

    SYMTOMS:

TWO CYLENDERS FIRE #2 AND #3 OR THE BOTTOM TWO. WITH ETHER SPRAYED INTO THE CARBS. THEY WILL COMBUST NORMALLY.

    # 1 HAD NO SPARK. I SWITCHED #1 COIL WITH #2 STILL HAD SAME RESULT. #1 FAILED TO SPARK. DETERMINED THAT THE COILS WERE GOOD.

REMOVED FLYWHEEL FOUND ONE OF THE "PICK-COILS" COMPLETLY BROKEN OFF FROM THE HEAD. FOR REFERENCE IT IS THE ONE CLOSEST TO THE CARB ASSEMBLY.

I'VE NOTICED THREE "PICK-UP" COILS AND THREE IN A STATOR ASSEMBLY. ALL SEEM TO BE REMOVEABLE INDIVIDUALLY.

    MY QUESTIONS ARE.

CAN I PURCHASE THESE ITEMS INDIVIDALLY?

ON THE COIL THAT IS BROKEN OFF THE HEAD. CAN THIS JUST BE OMITTED ALL TOGETHER? I FIGURE I WOULD SACRIFICE A CHARGING SYSTEM, IF IT WOULD WORK THAT WAY?

IS IT POSSIBLE TO WELD THE POSTS BACK ONTO THE HEAD? HELI-ARC? IF SO SHOULD THERE BE ANY PRECAUCHON TAKEN DUE TO HEAT?

ANY HELP WOULD BE WELCOMED THANK YOU

You can order your parts from this link http://www.boats.net/yamaha/partsyst...mponent=360259
You would need to let a welding or machine shop look at it to see if can be rewelded. The Lighting coil is the alternator coils for charging battery, the charge coils furnish's voltage to cdi.

SINCE ONLY ONE COIL IS BROKE OFF THE HEAD, CAN I REPLACE THE CHARGE COIL IN THE LOCATION OF THE LIGHT COIL, AS I COULD LIVE WITHOUT AN ALTERNATOR?

      THANK YOU FOR THE HELP
