  • New v max 150 carb or v max 150 hpdi?

Am looking at a new ranger 178sv with a 150 v max carb. I understand there are pros and cons to both the carbs and the hpdis. Just looking for some input. Thanks!

take this from a ex yamaha tech of 13 years. the only bad points of a carb engine over an hpdi is a few yeah just a few dollars in gas each trip and having to choke it to start. it is much more reliable and lots cheaper to fix. as long as you check your filters and run it at least once a month, you will have no problems. i have a carbed 130 myself going on 6 years old and other then emptying the filters and routine maintenance, i have had no problems out of my 130. i would rather clean carbs then replace one injector anyday.

Thanks for your advice. I am hearing the same thing the more I am searching the internet. At first I thought the dealer was trying to dump an inferior motor. Now I can't wait for Monday to see what kind of numbers we can work out.
