  • Power Loss

I have a 2001 225 4-stroke on a 22' Robalo. When I kick-it-up above 5200 rpm the motor after a half or full minute begins to sputter and the power goes down to almost nill. Note there is no visble smoke or loud clunks when this happens. Once I cut back on the throttle and idle everthing appears to be ok, and I can run again at crusing speed with no problems. My compresion test results are very good and I always run a stablelizer to keep moisture out of the fuel system. Again the problem only appears when I crank on it about 5200 rpms. Thoughts are aprpeciated.

About 5800-6000. Fyi I recently had the fuel filter/water seperator replaced and the injectors cleaned. However, the fuel pumps are original. Thinking the problem has something to do with the fuel system. If so I'm not quite sure where/how to start and trace the problem.
