  • Oil injection converted to premix

I didn't know the 1984 50hp I bought was supposed to have an oil tank until I got a manual. Apparently the previous owner took the oil injection system off and was premixing the fuel and oil. Is this an acceptable conversion? Am I likely to have future problems because of it? The manual indicates that the "Precision Blend" system varies the oil mix according to throttle position and RPMs. What fuel/oil ratio should I be using in the premix? I had assumed it was 50:1, and I've run about 6 gallons through it at that mixture; after reading the manual I'm not sure. Thank you for your expert opinions regarding this situation.

Great! Keep on mixing your fuel/oil yourself. Less stuff goes wrong. You might have to change plugs every couple of years, but it's way better than the alternative...

u run about 100:1 at idle and 50:1
this way u do not foul the plugs at idle and u do not need that much lube at idle also

u are fine what u are doing
