  • 1994 90hp trim motor

I have a 1994 90hp Yamaha outboard, the trim motor went (I use in salt water). I obtained a replacement, the old one was so bad it broke free when I tried to remove it. Now my problem - It is impossible to get the back bolt that holds this motor in place installed. I have removed every bolt and fastener I can find on the trim system but am unable to remove it to get at this last bolt. I have a manual but it mentions nothing about switching out this motor or removing the trim system. Can anyone provide any insight?? Thank you

you have to remove the motor from the boat.

you should be able to lift the motor a bit without disconnecting all harnesses/hoses to get it in.

The engine really has to be lifted off the boat not only to remove the trim system but also just to get at the back bolt on the trim pump? That seems like quite a bit of work for one bolt! Thanks for your advise and help. Brit
