6 horse exhaust is loud

Hi All,

Hopefully someone here can help me out. I replaced the impeller on my '03 6 horse outboard & it is now louder than it used to be. I must have left something off that directed the exhaust down the leg & out the prop. It now sounds like the exhaust is exiting above the waterline. I did this a few years ago so do not have any of the "extra" parts left over. Does anyone know what I might have left off & could possibly give me a part number, name, & where it is located in the leg?

No I don't know of anything that could have been left off. You might take lower unit off and look at muffler, check for holes from corrosion or end of muffler burnt off.

I didn't think I left anything off to make it sound louder. I don't see any muffler listed in the schematics in the lower unit. Is it called something else, or would it be in a different diagram other than the lower unit? Oh, it's a 1993, not an 2003.
