  • Remove Propshaft???

Yamaha 2000 115 HP Lower Unit

We had to put alot of downward pressure on the propshaft to remove the bearing carrier. When it came out, the ball bearing and reverse gear stayed in the LU. I cannot get the bearing gear assembly to come out. When I pull up on the propshaft it seems to hit something really solid. I believe the propshaft / bearing / reverse gear is supposed to just come out. But, it will not. Any ideas???

    Thanks,

    Kevin

put the rear spacer and prop nut back on and get a slide puller with three jaws. it should come out. if it still wont then you might have to heat the lower unit around the area where it is stuck.

Thanks Slim! I'll try it out. I'm gonna have to get more gas for the torch if the puller won't work. We used it all up getting the bearing carrier out!

The slide hammer did it. The gear and bearing were stuck some how. Once they popped up. It came right out. I replaced all the seals and ran it. No more water in oil of LU.
