can someone please tell me what is different in a counter rotating motor. my boat is in the shop and i think they said the lower unit is out, in the counter rotating motor, and because it is the counter rotating motor it will be 1800 bucks to fix cause they cant find it used. is there a diffence in the lower units? if not what is different? thanks

yes the difference is in the lower unit. its the way the bearings and shafts are set up that make it cost more. in a regular rotation gearcase, the gear in the front is the forward gear and the reverse gear in the back. in a counter rotation gearcase, its just the opposite. some models even have two piece prop shafts. the bearing housing is different also and all together you have about 4 or 5 more bearings in a counter rotation gearcase.
