  • 115TXRY wiring question

Extreme newbie here. I'm trying to educate myself on my new used outboard (this forum is helping). While trying to familiarize myself with the engine I found these unconnected wires:

What do these wires do? Why are they disconnected? The engine runs fine and was recently serviced for a new water pump (preventative nothing wrong with original) and lower oil change.

    Thanks!

do you have a yamaha digital tach? if no, these will not be hooked up. one is the trim sender harness and the other is for your oil warning lights.

Thanks, that would have been my first guess. Your correct I do not have the digital tach. Would it do any harm if they were hooked up? Last question: Is there a book I can buy that will help with some of this stuff. For example I want to install the sending unit for a water pressure gauge.

the sender mounts in the hole on the top of the starboard head. i think its a 14mm wrench to take out the plug. take out the plug and install the sender with some teflon tape and sealer. you need to take care in the hose routing because the hood will be real close to it when installed. just make sure it doesnt kink.
