  • fogging

New boat owner with 2006 F115. My dealer says they don't recomend fogging new engines. They suggest filling the tank, adding fuel additive and running for 10 minutes. Any thoughts? The boat will be out for 4-5 months.

    thanks

Hello, I have had outboards for 30+ years. I have never heard of any such thing. If you plan on storing the engine in a heated location you may get away running just an additive in the fuel. I am sure others will chime in on this one...

      klute,
I would follow what your owner's manual says - and I bet it says to "fog".

he is telling you not to fog because some will get past the rings and mix with the oil in the pan. if you do fog heavily, i would consider changing the oil before you use it again.

Thanks for the input. Since I have an extended warranty I think I'll follow the manuel on fogging.
