ok u patrs gurus this is what i have. model # 25mshu2 anoughter # is 200223. im trying to find a top cowling for this engine.i called a dealer he said that my engine was a 1997 model 2 cyl. well it has 3 cyl.the complete motor was bought in 1997 by a doctor. engine was never regis. well guys please help me.any info will be greatly apper.

by your numbers it is 1996, designated by the U, unless a later month production.
25-30 hp are 2 cyl, 40+ are 3 +. i would look at yamaha-motor.com_outboards_parts service and find your motor, as it sounds like you wont find it by your numbers/plates.
