  • Yahama 150 TXRY 20 amp fuse blowing

Went to use the boat and found the motor would not lift and ignition would not turn motor... Looked around a bit and found the 20amp fuse blown. I changed the fuse and the wires around fuse got warm... Ignition and tilt worked... fuse blew again.

I have ordered the manual but would like to go fishing. Anyone seen a cause for the 20 amp fuse to blow. 30 amp fuse is fine

Look where the red wire attaches to the starter relay. You'll see an incoming (from battery) red wire on the same post as the fuse's red wire. Try disconnecting the red wire(s) from the starter relay (jump the red wires together to complete the red wire circuit...), you just want to take the starter relay out of the circuit but still power the red wire. See if the wires get warm with a new fuse in there with the red circuit completed but not attached to the relay. You might just have a shorted out starter relay.
    Post your email address.
