  • Noise when shutting F150 down

I bought a new Polar with a F150 in the spring. Ever since new there has been a grinding noise when the engine is shut down. The noise is similar to a starter kicking in when the engine is running or maybe some strange blower noise.

I was on a friends boat 19 aquasport w/F115 over the weekend and there is no noise when he shuts down his engine. Since this has been happening since new and the mechanic has not mentioned anything about it even after the break-in service, I figured it was normal. Now this has me wondering...any suggestions/thoughts on this?

My 2005 F150 does not make any strange sounds running or when shutting down.

Are you sure thats not your automatic trim tabs re-setting to the original position?
When I purchased my new boat 2 months ago I was wondering the same thing. As soon as I turn the key to off I hear a brief grinding noise. I realized I had automatic trim tabs that reset everytime you turn off the engine.
      Hopefully thats it!!
