    I HAVE A 1999 YAMAHA 250TURX WITH TWO BATTERY SYSTEM, WHEN ON BATTERY #2 WITH KEY ON VOLTAGE READS 12, WITH ENGINE RUNNING VOLTAGE IS AT 14, WHEN ON BATTERY #1 W/ KEY ON VOLTAGE READS 12, WITH ENGINE RUNNING VOLTAGE ONLY GOES UP TO 12.2, INDICATING NOT CHARGING, BUT BATTERY APPEARS FINE WHEN STARTING, EVEN AFTER RUNNING LIVEWELL, VHF, D/S, GPS, ALL DAY, ALL TERMINALS TIGHT AND CLEAN,,, ANY IDEAS?

    if it aint broke? only sounds like 1 is a bit weaker than 2 ??

      GB,
      Your cranking battery should charge up to 14+ volts after starting the motor, but this may take as much as 10 minutes of running, depending on what condition the battery was in before cranking.
      A fully charged battery, at rest, no load, should read about 12.6 volts. A fully discharged battery will read 11.8 volts. This assumes all the battery cells are in good condition.
      Sounds like you have a bad cell in battery #1.

        THANKS FOR ADVICE, I AM GOING TO SWITCH BATTERIES AND CHECK VOLTAGE
