HI , my 2000 90's tilt and trim leaks down unexpectedly , sometimes while the boat is in use , sometimes just sitting on the trailer. There are no leaks or other signs of damage . Most of the time the tilt/trim works perfectly. Where should I look first for the problem ? Thanks MARKERNINE****

Sounds like a check valve is leaking - could be a piece of trash stuck or valve could be cracked.
I would raise the motor all the way up (drop down the tilt locking lever for safety) and check the fluid level - fill if needed.
Then I would follow the procedure for purging air out of the t/t system per the Yamaha shop manual.
That might clear out any suspect piece of trash.
