• Newbie with carb (Picture incl)

First time taking apart carb on my 91 Yamaha 70HP. Can I soak this whole thing rubber and all? Are the 2 screws in the middle give me access to the jets and needles?

Hope this works

More Photos. Do I need to take off more? Are these passages to be cleaned?

If you use automotive carb cleaner from NAPA or elsewhere it will probably eat the rubber gaskets. They should be removed. Also, the main and idle jets are right in the center of your carb in picture 1 and 2. They should be unscrewed (use a flat screwdriver) and soaked in the carb cleaner along with the dissasymbled carb. That is where the problem usually is at.

bud,
Nice pics - and I agree with Wally.
You need to remove all jets and plugs. Don't soak that rubber thingy. Remove the carb bowls and float valves, and pilot screws.
Let soak overnite, then blow compressed air thru all passages.
Good luck ,
