Mulitfunction Tachometer question

Just purchased a multifunction tachometer from Boats.net and installed it. I have a '98 200hp Yamaha 2-stroke Saltwater series and I'm trying to figure out what the dip switch for the alternator should be set to. Should it be 6 pole or 12 pole? Thanks,

Set the alternator switch to 12 poles, and set for 3 lead trim sender and 2 stroke engine.

what happened to the knowledge base? I've got a new multifunction tach. and my RPM's are always 0 I'm sure I've missed some connection but the diagram on the kbase is gone?
