Can any one clarify what the compression should be on a 2001 150 hpdi and how to the shift rod seated all the way down? Should this rod be bent?thanks Enki

Don't know your exact MODEL # but that shaft should be straight:

The seal resides in a small cover. I'd install it and the O-ring in the cover while NOT bolted to the LU..

Can you post a pic of the bent shaft??

Thanks Townsend for getting back . It's a TLRZ150-2001 I will take some pic and try to post them. Is there a special technique for installing the shift rod back in place ?

it will have a Z or VZ up in the front

what did you do that makes you try to put the shift shaft back in?

It's a VZ tlrz. The bracket was broken so I merely pulled up 99

Looking at the parts breakdown it seems the spring loaded slide will have to come apart to get the shift shaft back in properly.
So lower unit will need to be opened up.

Maybe Rodbolt or others that have done this on this large motor will chime in a verify that

I have no idea how that shift rod is re-installed.

If it's bent, you'll need a new one..

              Here's your LU:
