  • Help With Engine ID

Helping another identify his engine year and model. All I know is it's a 200hp V6 carbureted 2 stroke. The numbers I can make out on the plate are 0V48 (or 0V46) and 300116. Important to note...the owner says the ID plate may not be for this engine. You can see from the pics the engine was stripped, painted, then reassembled. Other than the ID plate, is there anywhere else on the engine where identification numbers can be found?

Have your friend look at the carburetors and the starter motor for any markings. What are they?

And are there six individual carburetors or three sets of dual carburetors?

I started a mew thread for help to ID a part on the engine. Look at this thread: http://www.yamahaoutboardparts.com/f...d-th28999.html

I'm totally perplexed as to what that part is. Townsend mentioned the 3 hoses...i have no idea where they go. Correct me if im wrong, a tube or hose in the engine compartment carries fuel or oil, so it would be one or the other- my guess oil. But that component has 2 electrical harness plugs connected to it. So what engine component is associated with oil and has what looks to be 2 sensors?

Townsend may be on to it...is this even a yamaha.

Looks like a Yam, smells like a Yam, smokes like a Yam. I am guessing that it is a Yam.

I am guessing that it is a Yamaha with ECS. Electronic Carburetion System.

I am holding a part in my hand. What is it?

Without you seeing the part in my hand, or us seeing some parts on that motor, it is hard to say for sure.

if this has carbs it probably is an enrichment system for cold starts or acceleration

Look at my previous post here. There is a link to the other thread that has a picture of the part in question.

It is carb'd. Do you know what year the 200hp 2 stroke had this enrichment system?

                        engine serial # 300116

On the Yamaha outboard website the serial number 300116 takes you to this if that's any help.

looks like a 90-93 225. however it also looks like a non US market motor.
but the excel and the 90-93 225 2.6L used the A&B solinoids for prime start.

I have been doing this to long.

Sorry try this one. If you enter the 300116 in the second search field from PID it brings up what I referenced.
