  • Left key in on position for 2 weeks

Hello left the key in on position on Yamaha 2004 70 hp 2 stroke after last use. Would this cause any damage to engine .Other than a drained battery ?

Should not hurt anything but the battery

It can drain the battery so slowly and completely that it may not be able to take a charge....my grandson playing in boat left a switch on for a couple of weeks and I had to spring for a new battery....guess this very slow drain can ruin a battery????

it is not the slow drain, it is the length of time it sits drained.
lead acid batteries do not like that

Yep, and the grandson has found some other place to play besides grandpa's boat!.... Guess all those switches are just irresistible for a kid!!!

Just got back from a nice boat ride. Had charged battery for a few hours . All systems go. To all who responded have a nice day.
