  • Yamaha ox66 225 tilt&trim

I always leave my engine tilted up to keep the lower unit out of the water during high tide. One day I noticed it was all the way down so I went out and tried to trim it up and it wouldn't . I checked the fluid and it was full and the motor runs in both directions, and it will not tilt back up.

See if you can help it while trim motor is running. My motor was stuck fully up and I lifted it up and down, basically rocked it back forth and it engaged.

Turned out to be a slow oil leak that allowed air into the system.

how in the world did you get to the level/fill plug to check it with the motor down?

If the emergency "bleed down" screw (large flat head screw), is not seated fully, it'll leak hydraulic pressure and not go up and WILL LEAK DOWN...

        Loosen, then re-tighten that screw.
