  • 1990 yamaha 225 etxd oil sensor

I think my oil sensor is bad. cause I get an alarm when the tank is full. I have taken the sensor out of tank and turned it upside down and still get the alarm is there a way to test the sensor.

if it turns out to be my level sensor how could I trick the ECM to think that the tank is full all the time.
if the sensor is bad I think I am going to bypass the whole system.
unless I can find a sensor for a decent price.

    thanks.

I had a similar problem but different in that the sender on the onboard oil tank was faulty and would periodically not shut the remote oil pump down. I replaced it and have never looked back. If you plan to bypass it the problem is that your remote oil pump won't start and stop so you are either stopping ever 15 min to hit the manual override or are getting into pre-mixing gas and oil. I bypassed one on an old 2.6 200 before by unplugging it and disconnecting the remote pump power. There was no ECU on that old girl though.
