shift linkage broke yamaha 9.9 high torque

I have a 9.9 yamaha high torque outboard. When I was taking off the barrel but. It just kept twisting. Found out the shift linkage was broken at the rocker arm. Can't get my fingers in to take the pin out to remove the pin and take linkage out. What do I need to take off to replace or is it easier to replace all parts to the shifter?
What should I do?

being we have no idea what your motor model is, my guess would be to pull the power head off so you can reach the parts

In other words, can you please supply the Model, Serial Number any other identification found on the ID Tag, which is on the transom bracket of the engine.

Maybe a picture of what is broken may help as well.
