I had a 1997 Evinrude V6, 150 when I bought my bought new. Besides carb cleaningsm (when ethanol came into play), I changed the WP once in TEN years, NOTHING ELSE, NOTHING...

Very dependable engine and MUCH less maintenance than the Yamaha. Much louder and 3x less the mileage thou, and heavier.

Had I known about RF and K100, I'd still have that engine.

My Whaler had a Johnson Ficht 150 when I bought it in 2001. The previous owner had the power head replaced during Johnson's 'program' just before I bought it. Have to say, the Ficht was a sweet running engine - really low fuel consumption. But after reading all the horror stories about them blowing up - even with the newer powerheads - I got nervous and found a dealer willing to take it in on trade toward a Yam F150.
