  • 2010 Yamaha Four Stroke 225hp 4.2 litter Starving for gas on Idle

For the last 2 to 3 month I have had an issue with my motor. When I am at idle for about 10 to 15 minutes of time the motor starve for gas and turns off. I have to go to the primer ball and pump. If I keep idling the motor will turn off again and once again I have to prime the primer ball. Things I have done that have not worked.

    1. clean tank = tank was spotless

    2. change fuel filter/ water separator / primer ball = all in great shape

    3. clean the gas vent = not clogged

    4. ran the boat without the gas cap = same problem

    5. check the fuel pump and they are at 40 PSI

I have ordered a RELIEF VALVE ASSY (60L-24460-0000) and hope this will work. My check Valve or relieve valve gets here on Friday and I will install and run it all weekend. I will let you guys know if that was the problem. keeping my fingers cross.

If anyone has had the same problem and has found a solution please let me know. thank you

Have you tried a remote tank ? My first thought is air is entering the system . Possibly a cracked hose ,or bad fitting. Good luck

      if you really have a 4.2 ltr F225 - I don't think you want a 60L-24460-0000
