  • 08' f150txr burnt ground wire

I really screwed up. I connected a battery backwards,,, power was on for about maybe 60 sec, till I seen smoke !! one of The ground wires going to the lower end burnt the plastic off of it. Well it blew fuses to both radio's (replaced) they now work. now my Radar won't come on, don't see a fuse. But my MOTOR won't turn over and my TRIM won't work from motor or throttle control. All fuses in fuse panel on motor are OK, but maybe the (main relay) it's with those fuses but I don't know how to test it. I don't see ?? any more fuses ?? Please Help

I'll let someone else comment on fuses. But, you can bet your regulator/rectifier will need to be replaced as well. They don't take well to an inversely connected battery....

Your owners manual should show where ALL the fuses are..

Did you cook any wires on the engine?

sounded like he cooked the bonding wire on lower unit .

not sure why that would heat up

        hope the ECU is ok

A ground wire, momentarily a positive line running 12 volts everywhere it don't belong...

If it was ONLY the T&T, probably, but the engine won't spin over either...

Hopefully it just popped the main fuse (pictured above).

We'll see soon, now that he knows where the fuses are...

OK ,, I checked the relay I PUT IT IN A FREINDS motor (same relay) It worked fine but actually his motor worked with or with-out the relay????? I new where all the fuses were (INSIDE) the fuse box and had previously checked them and all were good.. Am I missing a fuse some where else ?? Does that ground wire to lower unit have anything to do with the with the power issue it still seems connected but plastic melted off. there's power to the solenoid ,,,,, If jumped across starter will spin but not engage to flywheel.

Just for S&G's, check the voltage of the battery, maybe a load test as well.

"Hot wiring" the starter should have it spin and engage, unless IT'S damaged, or voltage is low to the starter....

Also, check the main engine cables, R&R, should they have gotten a bad connection with the mishap.. Basic's first.

Check the connector to the ECU too for any arcing

just for giggles replace the main fuse.
                  you blew it.
                  it always does.
that is why no trim,no key on, no crank.
the voltage for the trim and ign switch comes from the main fuse.
