Aviation oil filters

Dad called one day many years ago, said his truck had a bad oil leak.
when I drove over there 50 miles one way, I found a hole had rusted in his oil filter in his chevy pu.
it burned and leaked oil bad enough that he never changed oil and filter, just kept adding oil

not sure how many miles or years he kept that thing

My uncle Hope gave me an old 87 3/4 chev 4WD.
it had just over 100 miles on it the first time an ocean wave washed over the cab.
it had just at 100K when I got it.
I drove it from about 95 to about 2007.
changed the oil and filter once,changed the trans oil once.
gave it to my daughter at 290K.
she sold it to some nut that wanted to make a mud truck.
had I known it would last that long I may have taken better care.
I did replace the radiator and hoses once.
