  • What am I missing?

For years and years Yamaha cautioned against extending the VTS switch. Warning - Don't do it under penalty of ***X.

All the switch did was to close in one direction or the other and apply a ground. If the ground got to where it needed to go the engine would speed up or slow down. If the ground did not get to where it needed to go then absolutely nothing would happen. Similar to a trim and tilt switch, only difference was a ground was applied versus positive power.

Now all of a sudden Yamaha offers a remote mounted switch to apply the ground from many feet away.

What was might have been behind Yams former thinking? What might have changed their mind?

So they initially did not want to do it.

Said that individuals should not do it on their own.

But now are saying it is OK to do just use our expensive stuff to do it with.

      Makes sense.
