Is it a 06 or 05? And will this plug work with the nema2000 plus for the units that will read engine data?

2005 was the last year they had year models.
Yours was produced after the end of that
As opposed to a 2005 model VZ150TLRD. Which could have been made in 2004 or 2005.
Yamaha screwed the pooch when they did what they did IMO. I think they have painted themselves into a corner. As time goes by it seems to be more and more difficult for folks to know how to use the Yam parts catalog.

PID # for Engine Identification
Have a look see! Just like Boscoe has been saying for who knows how long.

Under "Care and Maintenance", "Parts Lookup" just punch in your PID in Yamaha's Parts Lookup page , and click the arrow to the right of the PID boxes.
Yamaha Outboards
Bingo, it tells you its and outboard 150 HP, VZ150-2 stroke, model VZ150TLR beginning production date of 04/05 (which would be 2006 model year), and takes you to the first parts diagram for that motor.
Couldn't be any simpler!Chuck,
