  • Error code 13

    Hi all.

Flywheel came loose on the weekend on my F115 yamaha 2004 model.
    Threw up error code 13.
No visible damage done, bolted it back down and restarted fine.
Error code went away but motor runs a bit rough like it's missing a bit. Was able to run home at 4000 rpm no probs
I believe motor reverts to static timing after a code 13? This woukd cause rough running. Correct me if I'm wrong.
If this is the case how do you revert it back to normal? Isolating power to motors didn't change it.
I ever swapped stator/flywheels from other motor for no change in rough running
    Any ideas?
    Cheers

error code 13 ment the ECU saw an issue with a pulser coil.
I would manually inspect ign timing.
I would also check the cam belt timing.

      Cheers for the reply,
I've verified the mechanical timing no issue.
How do I test electrical if all timing is handled via ecu?

I've swapped over ECU in case error code was stored and keeping me at static timing. No change in rough running.
Swapped coils, plugs, leads, you name it electrically, for no change.
This leaves me with fuel I guess? Check injectors next.
Woukd seem a bit odd though if it was fuel issue after rough running occurred after flywheel problem.

you can use a timing light to check ign timing.
if YDS is happy I would look at fuel.
you can watch most all engine paremeters with YDS.
