Tachometer only reading Max RPM

Hi I have a Yamaha 115beto outboard and the motor just got put back on after the boat has been painted.

As soon as the motor starts the tachometer goes straight to full RMP on the gauge and stays their.

Dose anyone know why?

I have checked the wiring behind the gauge and its all good and connected.

Any suggestions?

Small slot head screw adjustment on the back of tachometer....try switching it back and forth between settings(should be about 3 or 4 different positions for various motors....it may fix it....
