  • Stupid newbie question

Just got '99 225 OX66- I know nothing about yammies- I have no controls nor harness- I would like to start messing around with this thing so I need harness/key switch - that seems pretty straight- round 10 pin? anything tricky or need to know here?

Shifter- I see reference to "push" type shifter- ?? what do I need on a '99 ??
Just getting started so many more ?? I am sure.
I am not new to outboards - just know nothing about yammies other than they have 1st class reputation. thanks

Interesting to see I joined in forum 1969- I would have not gotten my driver license by then.....but soon after that

Here's a page from 2016 Yamaha Rigging Guide where you can start.

Not sure about the trim/oil harness because it says 2005. Our friend Boscoe will probably clear this up for you. You will of course need throttle/shift cables and steering cable if you don't have ones that are compatible.
The length of your harnesses/cables will depend on your particular situation.
Your choice of gauges will have to be made.
Here's a link to the Rigging Guide.

not russian but I do own a nice Tula built SKS and a couple of 91/30's .

the ign switch and ten pin harness is all the same.
the 704 or any Yamaha box with push to throttle will work
the tach gets a bit tricky as prior to 2001 most Yamaha used a three wire trim sender.
the oil harness are all the same.
you need to match the trim/warning harness to the tach.
