Ignition Switch Question

My gauge lights quit working and everything is rewired and fuses are good, so I think it might be the 15 year old ignition switch. My question is, will a 1999 40HP ignition switch work to replace a 2000 60HP-90HP switch?

part #s of gauge and key switches would probably help instead of giving HP ratings of motors

If the tachometer, or any other gauge for that matter, still works it is not the key switch.
