Prop Exchange?

Anyone know of a reputable business or likewise to exchange or trade in a excellent condition SS prop? I don't mind spending the $400-500 for a new prop, but it irks me to put the perfectly functioning prop I'll be removing on the shelf never to be used. Thanks.

some boat dealers have bulletin boards that people put used stuff on, but the web gets to more people

seems like I read about a prop dealer down there that would come to you with a bunch of different props and try on your boat to find the right ones, but I would think his service may cost.

That's Admiral Prop shop, known as the best round here and a block from where I live. Pretty sure they only sell used, no trades, but I'll check with them.

I was on their webpage last night. They offer a nifty service, bring a large selection of props to you for testing. But at a $95/hr rate, by the time you've narrowed down the best prop performer you've paid $200-$300 for the service. Which is more than half of the cost for a new prop. Unless I misunderstood the advertised service.

I haven't bought a prop since 2007, BUT if getting a genuine Yamaha prop, their considerably more expensive than a non "Yamaha" prop.

Mine isn't a Yamaha prop and works just fine.

If your prop shop has refurbished SS used prop's, I wouldn't have an issue using that at all.

Perhaps asking them about buying one (or a new one) and IF you have to change out (and there's absolutely NO damage) to the one initially bought, swapping out.

As for your aluminum prop, when I sold mine, I didn't get much for it. Might be worth just keeping as a spare..

I just noticed a mistake in my post. Meant to state Admiral's only sell NEW props, not used. Which is true, I checked with them today. They have no business with reselling used props.

Yes they can. However, they stated a 2" re-pitch up or down would be the very most. Since the prop I need is a 4-5" drop in pitch, pointless to have this done. But you do make a good point.

The particular prop shop posted earlier, Admiral's, will allow you to swap a new prop that you purchased from them for a different pitch. Which is a nice service. I mean for a $325 prop I guess that should be expected, yet probably not commonly offered.

If I can locate a used SS prop in great condition I have no probs with using it.

SS, 17" pitch. Depending on the prop manufacturer, the prop diameter for this pitch will be 13", 13.25", or 13.5". Right hand rotation. 15 spline.
