  • LF250TURC Forward Gear Removal

Any tips on removing the forward gear off of the bearing carrier? I'm trying to reseal the prop shaft. Manual says use a bearing separator and press, but I haven't had much luck with that approach. Has anybody tried using a Posi Lock 106 as a method of removing. Any help would be appreciated.

    first remove the nut.
then use a 6" bearing separator and press it apart. a little heat from a propane torch helps.

Which nut are you referring to?

the nut that holds the bearing in the carrier.
once you remove the shaft and carrier assy, insert it back in the housing inverted.
bolt it to the housing and use the spanner tool to remove the nut.
then the bearing and gear assy can be removed, then the shaft can be removed.

I was in class some years back when a student pressed the assy apart without first removing the nut.
what a bang when it let go.
